Four people were found dead on Thursday and nearly a dozen others were hospitalized in Kenya’s coastal district of Kilifi after being rescued while awaiting the impending end of the world.
Police said the victims, believed to be members of the Rev. Paul Mackenzie Good News International, said they were told to fast to avoid a “horrible fate”.
Authorities said they rescued 11 people – six of whom were emaciated and in critical condition.
Police said they would resume searching for more members of the group Friday morning after reports said others were still in the woods.

Police also found a shallow mass grave in Chakhula Forest in Langpaya, Malindi.
”The police were unable to conduct any further activity at the mass grave because of the hostile residents in the forest believed to be the suspect’s followers” part of the report read.

When police visited the area on Thursday night, April 13, they rescued the victims from their sprawling farm, but he was not arrested, although he was present at the scene.
The priest is currently at large on police bail after being charged last month in the deaths of two children whose fathers were among his supporters.
