Drake has been ordered to stand trial in the current XXXTentacion murder trial.
XXXTentacion, real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was killed in a shooting accident at the age of 20 while exiting a car dealership in Miami, Florida in June 2018.
In December, the defense team for Dedrick Williams — one of three suspects on trial in XXXTentacion’s murder — listed several artists, including Drake, Tekashi 6ix9ine, Offset and the late rapper Migos Takeoff, as potential witnesses.
Now, Billboard is reporting that defense attorney Mauricio Padilla believes Drake was likely linked to XXXTentacion’s death as the two had already fallen out.
According to a court document obtained by Billboard, Drake was arraigned in court last month but did not show up for his scheduled Jan. 27 appointment.
He is now being asked to appear in court on February 24 via a video link. If he doesn’t appear again, he could be held for contempt of court.

According to Padilla’s editorial arguments, the feud between Drake and XXXTentacion started when the latter thought the former had his track “Look At Me!” A year later, XXXTentacion posted a story on his Instagram that read, “If anyone tried to kill me, it was @champagnepapi,” and tagged Drake’s Instagram handle.
The post was deleted and XXXtentacion later claimed his account was hacked and four months later he was killed.
According to a December court filing, Onfroy “relentlessly mocked Graham on social media, making comments about his mother and even posting a photo of Drake looking like semen on his face” after feeling frustrated that Drake hadn’t helped him when he was in prison from 2016-2017. XXX reportedly asked DJ Akademiks to repost the photo, which added to the feud.
