We love football! Who doesn’t love football in Africa? Today, the world has witnessed many footballers display their skills on the different football pitches. If we should start calling names of legendary footballers, time may fall us. However, among the thousands of footballers we may call, there are Africans who have won our hearts as footballers.

We have a list of some of the greatest footballers who are from Africa.

Samuel Eto’o

Samuel Eto’o will always  warm our hearts each time we see him.  He was an amazing footballer when he was active. He won the most coveted Champions league thrice and has become the richest African player.  He was exceptionally prolific as a scorer.

 George Weah

George Weah was known for his famous goal He may not have won the Champions League but he won the African Player of the Century back in 1996. He didn’t stop being famous as a footballer, he tried his hands on politics when he contested for the president of Liberia but didn’t win.

 Didier Drogba

Didier Drogba doesn’t miss on any list for African legendary footballers. He won the Champions League and had that mentality of a player who can’t be defeated.  Drogba has become one of the footballers the one Africans look up to in inspiring them to greatness.

Roger Milla

Roger Milla made name as the oldest footballer to play in a World Cup. He played at the age of 42 and was known to have scored 405 goals as a footballer.

Jay-Jay Okocha

Jay-Jay Okocha was a robot on the football pitch. He was so good in dribbling that it was difficult to differentiate if he was a Nigerian or a Brazilian.  It was difficult to predict his moves on the pitch and didn’t stop entertaining his millions of fans around the world.

Abedi Pelé

Abedi Pele has become one of the greatest football players Africa could ever boast of. He was so good in his days that he won a lot of trophies for his club. Today, his two sons are playing football but not like he did in his days.

Nwankwo Kanu

When Kanu had a heart surgery as a player, most thought that the end had come for the player. He came back and become one of the best strikers of all time in Africa.  He is tall and lanky but scoring goals were never an issue. He knows how to beat goalkeepers when he strikes.

 

Yaya Touré

Yaya may be called the best midfielder in Africa. He has played for many famous clubs around the world and won everything.  When you are thinking of an amazing footballer, you cannot forget Yaya.
