Despite the chilly weather, hundreds of aviation enthusiasts flocked to Pretoria this weekend for the highly anticipated Africa Aerospace and Defence Trade and Exhibition 2024. The annual air show, one of the largest aviation displays in the world, took place at Waterkloof Airbase, offering visitors a thrilling spectacle of aircraft and cutting-edge aviation technology.

The event drew attendees from across the globe, with companies, aviation experts, and enthusiasts gathering to witness the latest advancements in aircraft and drone technology. The South African Air Force took center stage, proudly displaying a range of aircraft and providing pilots the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in front of an awe-struck crowd.

Charl Wentzel, a passionate aviation fan, praised South Africa’s contribution to the show, calling it “top class and really worthwhile.” His son, De Waal Wentzel, shared the excitement, expressing how special it was to see the aircraft up close rather than just in the skies or on video game simulations. De Waal braved the cold to wait in line for a chance to sit in the cockpit of an aircraft—a rare opportunity that left many thrilled.
