Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has been granted bail in the sum of 10 million naira by the Federal High Court in Lagos for his alleged involvement in naira abuse.
The businessman and socialite faced charges of naira abuse following an incident on February 13, 2024, at Eko Hotel during a social event where he was accused of spraying the naira notes.
Presented with three counts of naira abuse stemming from various social events, Cubana Chief Priest appeared before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court in Lagos following charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Upon pleading not guilty to the charges, Cubana Chief Priest was granted bail in the sum of ₦10 million with two sureties in like sum by the court.
Shortly after the court ruling, Cubana Chief Priest took to his Instagram page to express his gratitude, asserting his financial prowess. In a post, he wrote, “Seeing All Your Messages & Love I’m So Humbled. Now It’s Confirmed CP No Small. Money💸 Na Water💦”
In the midst of this legal battle, popular Nollywood actor, Seun Jimoh, criticized the EFCC for allegedly targeting celebrities in its crackdown on naira abuse cases. Jimoh accused the EFCC of “scapegoating” celebrities and questioned the fairness of singling out individuals for a crime that many Nigerians are guilty of, citing widespread evidence on social media platforms.
Cubana Chief Priest’s case comes in the wake of similar legal actions against public figures, including the recent sentencing of crossdresser Bobrisky to six months imprisonment for a similar offense.
As the legal proceedings continue, the case of Cubana Chief Priest underscores the broader societal debate surrounding the enforcement of laws against naira abuse and the accountability of public figures in Nigeria.
