Davido ‘Timeless’ breaks first, second-day stream record on Spotify, Boomplay

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has pulled off another record-breaking feat in his stellar career when his latest album ‘Timeless’ broke the record for highest day-one streams of any album on music streaming platforms – Spotify Nigeria and Boomplay.

This added to a string of album milestones since Davido announced the release of his long-awaited fourth studio album on his social media pages early Friday morning.

On Spotify Nigeria, the 17-track album garnered 4.91 million streams on its first day of release – beating the previous record of 1.36 million set by Burna Boys “Love, Damini” (8 July 2022).

The album debuted with 3.61 million streams, beating the previous record on Spotify for first-day streams (4.91 million streams).

Davido’s Timeless has the highest first-day stream for albums on Spotify Nigeria since 2022 totaling 4.91M to Burna Boy’s Love, Damini – 1.36M, Wizkid’s More Love, Less Ego – 1.21M, Asake’s Mr Money With The Vibe – 992,000 Fireboy’s Playboy – to cite. 524,000, Rema’s Rave & -Rose 396,000 and Omah Lays -Boy Alone 335,000.

Davido also tops Spotify Nigeria’s largest second-day album streams since 2022.

Davido’s Timeless grossed 2.19 million, ahead of Burna Boys Love, Damini-794,000, Wizkid’s More Love, Less Ego-734,000, Asakes Mr Money With The Vibe -556,000, Fireboys Playboy -271,000, Remas Rave & – Roses 219,000 and Omah Lays – Boy Alone 200,000.

Likewise, Davido’s “Timeless” album broke the record for most first-day streams on Boomplay – its 7.25 million first-day streams surpassed the previous record of Burna Boy’s “Love, Damini” (3.38 million).

The 17-track album features Nigerian artists such as The Cavemen, Fave, Asake and recent additions DMW, Morravey and Logos Olori, as well as multiple Grammy-winning Beninese singer-songwriters Angelique Kidjo and Nigerian-British rapper Skepta, Southern Music – African. producer/DJ Musa Keys and Jamaican dancehall/reggae singer Dexta Daps.
