Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority has announced a remarkable achievement as its annual revenue for the current financial year, ending on June 30, has reached an all-time high of $9.4 billion.

This record-breaking figure surpasses the previous year’s revenue of $7 billion, according to Chairman Osama Rabea’s statement on Wednesday.

Chairman Rabea proudly declared, “For the first time in the canal’s history, the authority has achieved revenues of about $9.4 billion,” during a conference where he addressed reporters.

The remarkable increase in revenue reflects the growing importance and profitability of the Suez Canal as a global trade route.

In addition to the extraordinary revenue growth, Chairman Rabea shared that a total of 25,887 ships have successfully traversed the canal during the current financial year, as cited on the authority’s website.

Comparatively, around 23,800 ships had passed through the canal in the previous year, demonstrating a steady rise in maritime traffic.

The Suez Canal has played a vital role in global trade for over a century. Connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea, this strategic waterway serves as a crucial shortcut between Europe and Asia.
