According to police reports, Former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst died Sunday morning at age 30 after jumping from a building in Manhattan, according to New York City Police Department. Cheslie Kryst, was crowned Miss USA in 2019.
“In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie …Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined.” her family said in a statement.
Before her death, the former Miss USA posted an Instagram photo;Â “May this day bring you rest and peace,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself.
Kryst’s body was found at 7:05 a.m. Sunday, on the sidewalk outside the Orion Condominium building, where she was a resident, in Manhattan.
Kryst fought for social justice as an attorney, as Miss USA and as a host on EXTRA. But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague – we know her impact will live on.”
Extra wrote: “Our hearts are broken. Cheslie was not just a vital part of our show, she was a beloved part of our Extra family and touched the entire staff. Our deepest condolences to all her family and friends.”
Kryst had several other TV appearances over the last several years, among them was; being featured as a panelist on Black Girl Beauty and as a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show and Live With Kelly and Ryan.
Kryst also appeared as Miss USA in Ava DuVernay and Colin Kaepernick’s Colin in Black and White.
Cheslie Kryst also reportedly left a note stating that she wanted to leave everything to her mother; who was also a former pageant competitor, crowned Mrs. North Carolina in 2002, according Daily Mail.
The note however didn’t include a motive for Kryst’s actions.
