Headies Awards 2023: Excitement Grows as Rookie of the Year Nominees are Revealed

The Headies Awards, one of Nigeria’s most prestigious music awards, has unveiled the first set of nominees for the highly anticipated 16th edition. The announcement of the nominees for the coveted “Rookie of the Year” category was made via the Headies Awards’ official Twitter handle on Tuesday.

The “Rookie of the Year” category is a voting category that recognizes emerging talents who have achieved remarkable success in the music industry during the year under review, despite not releasing an album.

Nominees

The nominees for the Rookie of the Year 2023 are Odumodublvck, Guchi, Bayanni, Khaid, Bloody Civilian, and Elter Skillz. These rising stars have shown immense potential and garnered significant attention in the Nigerian music scene.

The Headies Awards, originally known as the Hip Hop World Awards, was established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria. It aims to celebrate and honor exceptional achievements in the country’s music industry. The annual ceremony showcases performances by both established and promising artists.

Broadcast live on HipTV, the Headies Awards reaches viewers across Nigeria, creating a platform for recognition and appreciation within the music community. The event has been hosted at prestigious venues such as the Muson Center in Onikan, Lagos State, and the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Over the years, renowned personalities in the Nigerian entertainment industry, including Darey Art Alade, D’banj, Dakore Egbuson, Banky W., Rita Dominic, M.I, Tiwa Savage, and Dr SID, have graced the stage as hosts, adding to the grandeur of the ceremony.

As anticipation builds for the 16th Headies Awards, music enthusiasts and fans eagerly await the announcement of the winners and another memorable night of celebrating Nigeria’s vibrant music industry.
