Kenyan distance runner Faith Kipyegon received a remarkable reward from President William Ruto on Tuesday for her extraordinary achievements.
The president presented Kipyegon with a cash prize of $35,000 and a new house in recognition of her recent world record-breaking feats.
Kipyegon, a two-time Olympic champion in the 1,500 meters, shattered the previous world record during a race in Florence, Italy, on June 2.
Her time of 3 minutes and 49.11 seconds surpassed the eight-year-old mark set by Genzebe Dibaba of Ethiopia, making Kipyegon the first woman to complete the distance in under 3 minutes and 50 seconds.

Furthermore, President Ruto pledged that the Kenyan government will continue to honor and reward future world-record breakers with similar recognition and support.
