In a stunning display of athletic prowess, Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon shattered the women’s mile world record at the Monaco Diamond League meeting on Friday.

The 29-year-old athlete controlled the field and finished nearly seven seconds ahead of her closest competitor, Ciara Mageean from Ireland.

Kipyegon’s impressive time of four minutes and 7.64 seconds knocked almost five seconds off the previous world record set by Dutchwoman Sifan Hassan in 2019.

Notably, this marks the third world record broken by Kipyegon in just two months, having previously achieved the remarkable feats in the 1500m and 5000m events.
