Rock icon Lenny Kravitz was honored with a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday, surrounded by loved ones including his daughter Zoë Kravitz and close friend Denzel Washington.

The 59-year-old musician attributed his Hollywood journey to Norman Lear, the renowned television producer who cast Kravitz’s mother, Roxie Roker, in the hit sitcom “The Jeffersons.” Kravitz reminisced about his teenage years, when he ventured from New York to Los Angeles at age 15 and found solace in the bustling streets of Hollywood.

“I will forever be grateful to this city for that. I used to walk these very streets because the action and grit that I was missing in New York was right here in Hollywood,” Kravitz expressed. “As a teenager, I spent a lot of time walking up and down Hollywood Boulevard, seeing the names of all my idols. I never dreamt about having a star. I was usually just looking for a place to crash. But I did dream about making the music I wanted and doing my own thing.”

Joined by longtime friend Denzel Washington, Kravitz received heartfelt praise from the acclaimed actor. “We have been tied together for a long time. We’re close friends. We are brothers. I love Lenny Kravitz like I’ve loved no other brother in my life,” Washington declared.

Among the attendees was “The Jeffersons” star Marla Gibbs, aged 92, along with Zoë Kravitz’s fiancé Channing Tatum. Kravitz expressed his gratitude for having those who supported him at the outset of his career gathered in one place, describing it as “mind-blowing.”

Reflecting on his musical journey, Kravitz emphasized the importance of staying true to his artistic vision. “It was within my heart. I didn’t know any other way. I turned down a lot of record deals that wanted me to change my music,” he revealed. “I knew that there was something special that I needed to do, but I didn’t have it yet.”Lenny kravitz

As Kravitz’s name becomes permanently engraved on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, he embraces the surreal feeling of achieving a lifelong dream while staying true to his authentic self.
