Morocco’s tourism sector has reached an unprecedented milestone, welcoming 15.9 million visitors by November 2024, according to the country’s tourism ministry. This represents a 20% surge compared to the same period in 2023, cementing Morocco’s position as a rising global travel destination.
The month of November alone saw 1.3 million tourist arrivals, marking a 31% increase year-over-year. A significant portion of this growth was driven by Moroccan residents living abroad, whose visits grew by 17%, adding an impressive 1.1 million visitors to the total. This highlights the enduring ties between the Moroccan diaspora and their homeland.

Tourism is a cornerstone of Morocco’s economy, contributing approximately 7% to its GDP and serving as a crucial source of employment and foreign currency. The government’s efforts to attract tourists include expanding air connectivity to key international markets and promoting lesser-known attractions across the country.
Looking ahead, Morocco has set ambitious goals for its tourism sector. The nation aims to attract 17.5 million visitors by 2026 and an extraordinary 26 million by 2030. The latter aligns with Morocco’s role as a co-host of the FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, a move expected to further bolster its global appeal.
These efforts reflect Morocco’s strategy to solidify its position as a premier tourist destination while driving economic growth through a thriving and resilient tourism industry
