Amazon Studios has shared a trailer for their upcoming biopic AIR, which tells the story of how Michael Jordan and Nike collaborated to come up with the Nike Air Jordan, one of the world’s best selling sneakers.
Director and actor, Ben Affleck appears retro in the trailer for his portrayal of Phil Knight, the former CEO of Nike Inc. who oversaw the 1984 deal that changed the tennis industry – and sports sponsorship deals – forever.
The trailer also offers a first look at Affleck’s meeting with “Good Will Hunting” Oscar winner Matt Damon, who plays Sonny Vaccaro, who is tasked with “creating a big idea that no one else can see” to bring about a change in the business.
Vaccaro is the executive who landed a Nike endorsement deal with Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan.
NBA legend Jordan is obviously absent from the trailer, but Viola Davis made an appearance as Jordan’s mother, Deloris Jordan.

Also starring in the film are Jason Bateman, Chris Messina, Chris Tucker and Marlon Wayans.
Air is Affleck’s first directorial effort in seven years, following 2016’s Live by Night. Affleck’s 2012 film, Argo, which he co-starred and directed, earned him the Oscar for the best movie.
In a hilarious show of support, Affleck’s wife, Jennifer Lopez, shared an Instagram post with the new trailer, which showed Affleck sulking in his “Air” suit with the caption, “My husband is happy.”
The raunchy message apparently poked fun at Affleck’s miserable facial expression during Sunday’s Grammy Awards, which went viral in the days that followed.
