Nigeria’s Osimhen Named Serie A Player Of The Month For January

Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen has been named Serie A Player of the Month in January.

Osimhen has been great since the turn of the year and has received recognition for his efforts.

Osimhen was exceptional for Napoli in January. After the World Cup break, the Super Eagles star consistently delivered impressive performances for the Partenopeans and helped them maintain their lead at the top of the Serie A table.

After losing 1-0 to Inter Milan on their return to action, Osimhen hit back with a goal against Sampdoria. The 24-year-old scored twice and provided an assist as Napoli beat Juventus 5-1.

His performance did not go unnoticed and earned him a nomination for Player of the Month alongside compatriots Ademola Lookman; Paulo Dybala, Lautaro Martinez, and Luis Alberto.

On Friday, the Italian Football League announced that Osimhen had beaten the other four candidates to win the January Player of the Year award.

He is the third Napoli player to win the Italian league title this season, after Khafisha Kvaratskhelia and Kim Min Jai.

The 24-year-old Nigerian striker will receive his award when Napoli hosts Cremonese on Sunday.
