Palestine Beat South Africa 1-0 in Charity Match

In a display of solidarity with the people of Palestine, the Palestinian football team secured a 1-0 victory against a South Africa Invitational eleven in the Football 4 Humanity charity match held at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.

This match marked the second occasion where teams faced off in support of Palestine, following a previous event attended by South African president Cyril Ramaphosa. This time, Deputy Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Nocawe Mafu, conveyed heartfelt words of support to the Palestinian community after the game.

“This is not just a game for us; it is a show of love to say to you, the people of South Africa understand what you are going through,” expressed Mafu. “The people of South Africa understand the pain; we’ve been through this, and we want you to remember you will be free. Palestine will be free, it might take a long time, but you will definitely be free.”

PalestineThe event underscored South Africa’s ongoing support for Palestine, particularly amidst the backdrop of the Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip. According to health authorities in the region, at least 28,775 Palestinians have lost their lives since October 7, highlighting the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
