Renowned Nollywood actress Rita Dominic has bravely spoken out about facing online ridicule and insults for marrying at what some consider an “old age.” The actress revealed that she chose to tie the knot later in life because she wanted to ensure she was marrying for the right reasons, not due to societal pressure.
Dominic, who got married at the age of over 45, emphasized that her decision was not influenced by her status as a public figure. Rather, she waited until she found the right partner, who happened to be a long-time friend.
“I got married when the time was right for me. My husband and I had been friends for a long time, and our marriage happened at the perfect moment,” Dominic shared.
Despite her contentment with her decision, Dominic faced harsh criticism and insults on social media after announcing her marriage. She recounted enduring years of questioning about her marital status due to her age and prominence in the entertainment industry.

“In April of 2022, my sweetheart traveled to my state to marry me. My story of finding love and marrying at what some consider an ‘old age’ was met with disdain on social media,” Dominic revealed during the Women of Valour program.
Refusing to succumb to societal norms, Dominic urged others to marry for love and not succumb to pressure. She emphasized the need to challenge outdated expectations and norms surrounding marriage.
The actress tied the knot with Dr. Fidelis Anosike, founder of Folio Media Group, in a beautiful ceremony in North Yorkshire, England. Their traditional wedding took place in April 2022, followed by a grand celebration surrounded by family and friends.
Rita Dominic’s courageous stance serves as a reminder to challenge societal standards and embrace love on one’s own terms, regardless of age or public scrutiny.
