England has beaten Senegal 3-0 leaving Morocco as the only African nation currently fighting to lift the World Cup.

Quality goals from Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka propelled England to the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

England was slow to gain ground against the African champions, a side they had never seen before, and endured two scares before two late goals changed the mood of the evening.

It is worth remembering that by beating Canada, Morocco, a North African country that ended up at the top of its sixth group, has officially become the only African nation left in the world cup tournament.

Morocco defeated strong football countries such as Belgium and Croatia and reached the round 16 of the World Cup.

In the game against Canada, the Moroccan team strategically exploited their opponents’ mistakes, most notably the mistakes of Canadian defender Stephen Vittoria and goalkeeper Milan Borgan.

Morocco meets Spain this Tuesday afternoon in the round 16 of the World Cup between two countries from different continents less than 16 kilometers apart.

With a narrow win over Canada that reflected their strength throughout the tournament, Morocco became the first African side to top their group at a World Cup in the 21st century.
