Here is a list of the winners of the highly anticipated 16th Edition of the Headies Awards which took place in Atlanta, Georgia, marking another remarkable year for the prestigious Nigerian music event. Established in 2006, the Headies Awards has evolved into the most esteemed accolade in Nigerian music, serving as a vital platform for recognizing and documenting the advancements within the Nigerian music industry.

Big winners

At the 2023 Headies Awards, both Rema and Burna Boy emerged as big winners, each securing three awards. The event, which celebrates the talent of Pan-African and Afrobeats artists, was held on Sunday, September 3rd, at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta. Rema claimed the titles of Best Male Artist, Digital Artiste of the Year, and African Artiste of the Year. Furthermore, Selena Gomez, Rema’s collaborator on the global hit “Calm Down,” was honored as the International Artiste of the Year, while Director K, responsible for directing the music video of the “Calm Down” remix, received the Best Music Video award.

Renowned artist and entrepreneur Sean “Love” Combs was previously announced as the recipient of the International Artiste Recognition Award. Although he was not present at the ceremony, organizers have assured that his plaque will be delivered to him.

Notably, this is the second consecutive year that the Headies Awards ceremony has been held in Atlanta, Georgia, further solidifying its global presence and influence in the music industry.
