Tupac Shakur, the legendary rap icon, will be receiving a long-overdue honor as he is set to be posthumously awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame organization made the announcement on Wednesday, revealing that Shakur’s sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, will accept the honor on his behalf on June 7th along Hollywood Boulevard. The star will be placed in the coveted “Recording” category, with the event being hosted by radio personality Big Boy.
Recognizing Shakur’s immense contributions to music, film, and activism, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez praised the late artist’s lasting impact.
“Tupac Shakur was a rapper, actor, activist, poet, and revolutionary,” said Martinez. “This iconic artist has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come.”

Shakur, who tragically lost his life in 1996 at the age of 25, left an indelible mark on the world with his music, influencing the hip-hop genre and amassing a global fan base.
With over 75 million records sold worldwide, his albums “All Eyez on Me” and “Greatest Hits” achieved Diamond certification. Additionally, Shakur found success in acting, earning critical acclaim for his roles in movies such as “Juice,” “Poetic Justice,” “Above The Rim,” “Gridlock’d,” and “Gang Related.”
Not only was Tupac Shakur a talented artist, but he also used his platform to advocate for the rights of Black Americans, making him an influential activist. Recently, a docuseries titled “Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur” shed light on Shakur’s life and the impact of his mother, Afeni. The series’ director, Allen Hughes, will be present at the unveiling ceremony.
In recognition of Shakur’s profound influence and connection with Los Angeles, his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is expected to become one of the most visited stars. Fans around the world will have the opportunity to witness the unveiling of the star through a live stream on walkoffame.com.
