A horrific incident unfolded in Kolong village, Nandi, as a 35-year-old woman took matters into her own hands after discovering a middle-aged man defiling her 3-year-old daughter.
The enraged mother, whose identity remains undisclosed, resorted to hacking the perpetrator to death on Thursday evening within the confines of her home.
In response to the man’s murder, a furious mob attacked the woman, setting her houses and tea bushes ablaze.
The Nandi Central police commander, David Anyir, confirmed that the woman and her child are currently receiving medical treatment at Kapsabet County referral hospital under police guard.
The deceased had previously violated the same child a year ago when she was only two years old. However, due to his mental challenges, he was released by a Kapsabet court.
The police officers attempting to remove the deceased’s body from the scene faced opposition from an angry mob, resulting in a 10-hour delay.

While the woman herself sustained severe injuries inflicted by her neighbors, her baby girl is undergoing treatment for both physical trauma and tears in her private parts.
Hospital sources have revealed the distressing fact that this was the second time the child had suffered abuse at the hands of the deceased.
The woman, already considered a murder suspect, will face legal consequences once she has recovered from her injuries.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable members of society and the urgent need to address the issue of sexual abuse and violence against children.
