A Nigerian-born music executive named Emmanuel Odunlami has been stabbed to death in the UK over an alleged fake watch worth up to £300,000.

The Old Bailey, the central criminal court for England and Wales, recently heard that Odunlami was mugged by three thieves after he threw a party for his birthday.

According to the Daily Mail, the 32-year-old music executive was attacked after leaving Haz restaurant near St Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 1, 2022, according to the Daily Mail.

Odunlami’s attackers reportedly received a tip from Kavindu Hettiarachchi, a security officer, that he was wearing a Patek Philippe Nautilus watch.

During the hearing, Attorney General Duncan Atkinson K.C. believes the watch “may not be original.” He added that the thieves treated the piece as if it were an original.

“Sadly, as it was to turn out, he liked expensive brand watches. At the time when he was fatally attacked, he was wearing a Patek Philippe Nautilus watch,” the prosecutor said.

“If real, such a watch could be worth anything in a range from £90,000 to £300,000.

“It is believed the deceased’s watch may not have been genuine, but was treated as genuine by those who sought to take it.”

Atkinson said Hettiarachchi was “an integral member of the security team” and was hired by the events organizer for the private ticketed brunch and afterparty with DJ.

The jury was told Vandrews and Jordell Menzies were then driven from north-west London by Quincy French in a white Mercedes with modified number plates.

The security guard reportedly took a picture of the victim wearing his “high quality” watch and then appeared to be typing on his phone.

“The prosecution’s argument is that he showed the other defendants Mr. Ounlami and his watch so they could steal this object that seems so valuable,” Atkinson said.
