The award caps off a remarkable year for the 27-year-old. Lookman made history in May by becoming the first player since 1975 to score a hat-trick in a Europa League/UEFA Cup final, delivering three goals in just 26 minutes against Bayer Leverkusen. His stellar performance earned him a spot in the Europa League Team of the Year.

For Atalanta, Lookman was a key figure, directly contributing to 18 goals in Serie A during the 2023/2024 season. His achievements didn’t go unnoticed on the global stage, as he was ranked 14th at the prestigious Ballon d’Or gala in October.

Speaking about the honor, Lookman expressed gratitude for the recognition and credited his teammates and coaches for their support throughout the year. His win is not only a personal triumph but also a proud moment for Nigerian football, highlighting the country’s talent on the international stage.

The CAF Player of the Year award further solidifies Ademola Lookman’s legacy as a footballer who continues to inspire fans across Africa and beyond.
