In her revealing book titled ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson’, she candidly recounts the incident that occurred in 2010, involving a rapper based in Tema, Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, who has since become an icon and a multiple award-winning musician.

Nelson narrates the heart-wrenching moment when she went for a pregnancy test accompanied by her friend, Karen. The test result, too difficult for her to face, was opened by Karen, who exclaimed, “Charlie, it dey there!” This marked the beginning of a life-altering revelation that threatened to turn Nelson’s world upside down.

Describing her relationship with Sarkodie at the time, Nelson emphasizes that it was not a serious commitment but a connection born out of shared interests in the music industry.

However, when faced with the news of her pregnancy, Nelson expected Sarkodie to accept responsibility for their actions. Instead, Sarkodie, who was still navigating his way through life and living with his mother, refused to bear the burden of fatherhood.

Feeling abandoned and grappling with her own painful upbringing, Nelson decided to take the drastic step of terminating the pregnancy.

She shares her anguish over the possibility of bringing a child into the world who would suffer the rejection she experienced. In her book, Nelson reflects on her choice, expressing deep regret and stating that if she could turn back time, she would have chosen differently.

‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson’ delves into the actress’s personal journey of self-discovery, shedding light on the challenges she faced and the realization that she had been living with a false identity.

The memoir, launched on June 18, 2023, has captivated readers with its raw and emotional account, providing insight into the complexities of relationships, fame, and the consequences of difficult choices.

Yvonne Nelson’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of taking responsibility and the long-lasting impact of decisions made in challenging circumstances.
