At 68, entertainment icon Whoopi Goldberg is making waves beyond the film industry with the launch of the All Women’s Sports Network (AWSN), a pioneering platform dedicated exclusively to women’s sports. Recognizing the vast potential and growing enthusiasm for female athletics, Goldberg’s network seeks to fill a major gap in sports media by providing extensive coverage that’s typically sidelined by mainstream outlets.

Despite the undeniable rise of women’s sports, media coverage remains strikingly imbalanced, with only about 10 percent of airtime focused on female athletes. Goldberg, known for her roles in The Color Purple and Sister Act, is determined to change this landscape. Her network aims to put female athletes front and center, offering fans an all-encompassing view of women’s sports, available worldwide through major cable and streaming services.

AWSN will offer a wide-ranging lineup, from live broadcasts of popular sports like basketball and soccer to coverage of emerging fields such as skateboarding and surfing. Instead of treating women’s sports as occasional highlights, the network will provide continuous, in-depth coverage, giving athletes the platform they deserve.

Programming on AWSN promises an immersive experience. According to Sports Pro Media, the network will feature a variety of shows, including real-time game coverage, detailed analysis, and documentaries capturing athletes’ training and journeys. Viewers will get a look behind the scenes, from pregame routines to rigorous training sessions, creating a narrative that goes beyond the game.

Goldberg’s vision for AWSN is both a viewing option and a legacy project aimed at leveling the playing field. The network aspires to inspire young female athletes, validate their dreams, and offer seasoned professionals the recognition they’ve long earned. With extensive prime-time coverage and interactive segments, AWSN will deepen the connection between fans and athletes, spotlighting the dedication and passion driving women’s sports.

Set to debut next quarter, the All Women’s Sports Network will be accessible worldwide, enabling fans to stay connected to their favorite athletes and discover new sports with ease. More than a business venture, Goldberg’s AWSN represents a cultural shift toward equitable representation in sports media, one that’s poised to inspire and impact future generations.
