Curtis Jackson, known by his stage name 50 Cent, celebrated the grand opening of his G-Unit Film & TV Studios in Shreveport, Louisiana, solidifying his presence in the entertainment industry. The event, attended by hundreds of supporters and Shreveport residents, was marked by the city’s Mayor Tom Arceneaux awarding 50 Cent a key to the city, alongside the declaration of April 18 as “50 Cent Day.”
During the ceremony, held on the steps of Government Plaza, the Huntington and BTW high school marching bands added to the celebratory atmosphere. Reflecting on the milestone, 50 Cent expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Betting on me is not a gamble. It’s a sure thing because together we will make history.”
The acquisition of the former Millennium Studios on January 1 marked a significant step for 50 Cent, as he now owns one of the largest Black-owned production studios globally. Under the terms of the deal, G-Unit will lease the building for 30 years, with the option to extend for an additional 15 years, demonstrating a long-term commitment to the Shreveport community.

50 Cent emphasized his vision for G-Unit Studios, stating, “My aim is to embody the spirit of conscious capitalism, to focus on creating jobs, stimulating commerce, and contributing to economic growth for this vibrant community.” He sees Shreveport as an inspirational hub for creativity and innovation, aligning with his commitment to fostering talent and providing opportunities.
The expansion of G-Unit Film & Television marks a significant milestone for 50 Cent, who views the platform not just as entertainment but as a voice for marginalized communities and untold stories. With plans to refurbish the studio and produce compelling films, 50 Cent aims to continue making an impact in the entertainment industry.
The launch of G-Unit Studios positions 50 Cent as a key player in the entertainment landscape, with his 956,000-square-foot property ranking as the second largest Black-owned production studio globally, following Tyler Perry’s studio in Atlanta.
