Will Smith and Martin Lawrence officially reunite for the fourth Bad Boys movie.
Sony Pictures has confirmed that the untitled sequel to Bad Boys is in pre-production at the studio, with Adel Elaraby and Bilal Fallah returning to direct from a script by Chris Bremner.
The fourth film in the ‘buddy crime series,’ which began in 1995, has been a long time in the works, but official confirmation came from Smith and Lawrence on social media on Tuesday.
The duo reworked the new film after Smith slapped Chris Rock during the March 2022 Academy Awards and the controversy that followed.
Westbrook and Smith’s Jerry Bruckheimer, Doug Belgrade and Chad Ammann will co-produce Bad Boys 4, with Lawrence, James Lasseter, Mike Stinson, Barry Waldman and John Moon executive producing.
The Bad Boys sequel has seen many ups and downs over the past few years, with various writers and directors coming and going.

Elaraby and Falah recently directed and co-wrote the feature film Rebel, about a family torn by a Muslim child’s future, which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
The filmmakers previously directed Bad Boys for Life for Sony Pictures, which reunites Smith and Lawrence 25 years after the release of the iconic Bad Boys film.
They took out Batgirl, which Warner Bros. Discovery launched last year to lower taxes on the project. On television, the duo produced and directed the pilot and series finale of Marvel’s Ms. Miracle.
