In November, a new high-end lodge will open on Namibia’s renowned Etosha National Park’s eastern border. This luxury lodge in Namibia will be called the Onguma camp.

With its conical, mud-plastered central tower resembling a termite mound and the entire camp elevated on wooden stilts, the thatched Onguma Camp Kala will provide front-row seats to all the wildlife action at the floodlit waterhole.

An interactive show kitchen and all-day pantry will be featured in the dining area.

A fully equipped gym and spa treatment area, as well as a secluded yoga terrace, will be available.

“To create a true sense of place, Onguma Camp Kala’s design was influenced by the termite mounds that are so common in this section of Namibia, as well as the textures and tones of Etosha Pan.”

Note that the water-level photographic hide is a great method for guests to pass the time.

Onguma Managing Partner Fritz Vorster says, “We’ve brought in some of the best architects and interior designers to guarantee the new camp is truly spectacular, has a low footprint on the environment, and honors our incredible position.”.

Four guest apartments will be connected by raised walkways at Onguma Camp Kala. The open-plan guest suites are spacious and private, with twin or king-sized beds and a cutting-edge air-conditioning system.

Each suite will have its own deck with an outdoor shower, a wood-fired hot tub (fueled by invasive tree species), loungers, and a fire pit.

A private, covered sala with a king-size outdoor daybed will be reached through a path.

Accommodation

Unless the entire camp is reserved for exclusive use, no children under the age of 12 are permitted.

When the camp is reserved for exclusive use, it may accommodate up to 12 people. Guests can fly into Onguma’s private airfield immediately. Onguma, on the other hand, is only a five-and-a-half-hour trip from Windhoek.

If you’re looking for a great place to stay when you visit Namibia, the Onguma is a great place to be.
