Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has etched her name in history by becoming the first female artist in 16 years to win the Best African Music Act award at the prestigious MOBO Awards. The singer also took home the Best International Music Act award, cementing her status as one of the most influential voices in contemporary African music.

Held at the Utilita Arena Newcastle, this year’s MOBO Awards marked the first time the ceremony took place in the city.
