Renowned American electro DJ and producer Diplo is set to send waves of pulsating beats through Nairobi, Kenya, as he takes the stage at Carnivore Grounds on 20 January. Organized by Kenya Nights, the concert promises an unforgettable night of music, marking Diplo’s third appearance in the Kenyan capital.
Sharing the stage with international talents like Kooldrink from South Africa and Nitefreak from Zimbabwe, as well as local favorites such as @hiriba.e, Diplo’s performance is highly anticipated.
The announcement came directly from the DJ himself, who excitedly stated on social media, “What’s up Nairobi, Diplo here. 20 January, I’m coming; I’ll see you there.”
Born Thomas Wesley Pentz, Diplo is one-third of the globally renowned Jamaican-American electro-dancehall group Major Lazer, alongside Walshy Fire and Ape Drums.
The trio has produced chart-topping hits such as ‘Pon de Floor,’ ‘Lean On,’ and ‘Cold Water.’ Diplo’s connection with Kenyan music enthusiasts dates back to 2014 when he first toured the country, followed by a triumphant return in 2017 for a Major Lazer concert.
Major Lazer’s influence extends to collaborations with African artists, notably their 2018 Afrobeats Mix compilation featuring the likes of Burna Boy, Mr Eazi, Ice Prince, Moonchild Sanelly, Nasty C, Harmonize, and Kizz Daniel.
This blend of global and African sounds has resonated with audiences worldwide, making Diplo’s upcoming concert a must-attend event for music lovers in Nairobi.
As Diplo gears up to deliver an electrifying performance, fans can expect an immersive experience that transcends musical boundaries, creating memories that will linger long after the beats fade away.
