Tourism Minister Andrew Egyapa Mercer described the UNESCO recognition as a testament to Ghana’s dedication to preserving its cultural heritage. “This achievement places Ghana at the forefront of global efforts to safeguard and celebrate cultural traditions,” Mercer remarked.

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC) expressed its gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, UNESCO, and the artisans, cultural institutions, and traditional authorities who played key roles in securing this recognition. Special praise was extended to the Bonwire and Agotime communities, who have preserved the craft for generations, ensuring its authenticity and survival.

As the country celebrates this historic achievement, MoTAC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Ghana’s cultural legacy on the global stage. This recognition is not only a victory for the artisans who dedicate their lives to the craft but also a moment of pride for all Ghanaians.
