However, on this occasion, it was the best thing this bride did, because after many chat exchanges, Sibusiso and Nhlakanipho finally met and have remained inseparable ever since. Their engagement party/lobola was Swati-inspired and it was a stunning celebration. Nhlakanipho takes us on a journey as she narrates their love story.
How Sibusiso and Nhlakanipho Met
He slid in my dms. I was ignoring him for a good three months before I replied to his dms. After a month or so of talking, we finally met. He drove from Newcastle to the East Rand to meet me (as he’s from Newcastle) and as they say the rest is history.
The Lobola/Engagement
The lobola process was nerve-wracking for both of us as it was symbolic of our families coming together and as well as me and him beginning this beautiful journey together. The process was quite smooth and there were no hiccups at all and I am so grateful to Jehovah for that.
Planning our engagement party slash lobola celebration was a learning curve and also stressful at the same time. Due to the pandemic, the planning process was so stressful as you can imagine but with Jehovah, our supportive families, and us constantly encouraging each other we were able to pull through.
