One of the earliest Swahili communities in East Africa is Lamu. It’s a tranquil island off the coast of Kenya that is encircled by the Indian Ocean and devoid of any automobiles.

History buffs should spend some time in Lamu Town, which is rich in historic Swahili structures with doors made of enormously detailed wood and coral stone.

The village is primarily composed of coral stone and mangrove wood. The location on the map of the East African islands is made even more interesting by the fact that there are no roads on the island, therefore you hardly ever see any vehicles.

With a population of about 6,500, Praslin is the second-largest island in Seychelles. Formerly a haven for Arab traders and pirates, the area is today a well-liked tourist destination with a number of hotels and resorts.

It has some of the most breathtaking white sand beaches in the world, including Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette.

It also includes vast areas of tropical forests with indigenous birds like the Seychelles Bulbul. Unique vanilla and coco de mer orchids can be found in the stunning Vallée de Mai Nature Preserve.
