Beyoncé broke the record for most Grammy Awards of all time, taking home the 32nd trophy at this year’s ceremony.

The singer made history by winning Best Dance/Electronic Album for her upbeat dance composition Renaissance.

In doing so, she surpassed the Hungarian-British conductor Georg Solti, who had a record 31 awards in over 20 years.

She thanked her family, including her late uncle Johnny, who helped her make her stage clothes before she found fame.

“I’m trying not to be too emotional,” the superstar said after her historic win as her husband Jay-Z stood and applauded her. The singer thanked her late uncle, her parents, Jay-Z and her children for supporting her. “I’m just trying to receive this night. I want to thank God for protecting me. Thank you, God.”

As the the event progressed, Beyoncé was able to further extend her lead. She received nominations for Album of the Year, as well as Song and Record of the Year, both for her debut single, Break My Soul.

Beyoncé also won Best R&B Song for “Cuff It,” Electro Dance Recording for “Break My Soul,” Traditional R&B Performance for “Plastic Off the Sofa,” and Electric Dance Album for “Renaissance.”

Lizzo was named Record of the Year for “About Damn Time,” where she delivered a rousing speech that wowed a majority of the audience, including Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Adele.

“Adele and I had a great time and cheered on our friends. Such a great night, very unexpected,” said Lizzo, dedicating her award to Prince.

Jazz singer Samara Joy won Best New Artist, ignoring challenges from artists like Wet Lead, Anita and Maniskin.

Beyoncé was missed in the room when she broke Solty’s record, which has stood since 1997. Host Trevor Noah said she was on her way to the ceremony but blamed LA traffic for not accepting the award in person.

The song was written by multiple writers including Beyoncé, The Dream, Nile Rodgers, and Raphael Saadiq.

When Beyoncé – the night’s main nominee – finally arrived, Noah presented her with the award for Best R&B Song on her table.
