Nigerian Monarch, Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, hosted some Americans who have roots in Ile-Ife on Tuesday.
The Americans were led to the traditional ruler by by the Asoju Asa of Ile Oodua, Ambassador Dotun Taylor.
In his notes, Ooni commented on the sense of identifying the root of one’s lineage.

“If you take a closer look at yourselves in comparison to your kinsmen and women here, there is no difference between us.
“The only difference is that my own forefathers missed the boat that yours caught up with”, NAN quoted the monarch.

Ojaja II prayed that the “significant names” bestowed on them would appear in all their endeavors.
He described Ile-Ife in Osun State as a place full of wonderful people, adding that it’s a very safe environment.
He urged Americans to increase their economic presence in the city and seize the various investment opportunities.

Taylor said they were confident of their lineage after DNA testing and praised the king for promoting Yoruba culture and preserving Yoruba history.
“I am feeling the connection of origination and I am happy to be back home”, said Mrs Delzora Dotson, who now has a middle name, Omotilewa.
