Russia and Tanzania are exploring the possibility of resuming direct flights between the two countries, according to Russian Ambassador to Tanzania, Andrey Avetisyan.
In an interview with The Citizen newspaper, Avetisyan expressed optimism about establishing direct air connections and highlighted the potential benefits for both Russian and Tanzanian travelers.
“We are now discussing with the Tanzanian Government and Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority the possibility of reestablishing direct flights,” the Ambassador said, cited by the newspaper.

For years, Tanzania has been a favored destination for Russian tourists, particularly Zanzibar, known for its pristine beaches and rich cultural heritage.
The resumption of direct flights would provide greater convenience and accessibility for Russian travelers looking to explore Tanzania’s natural wonders and vibrant cultural experiences.
Avetisyan mentioned that the discussions with the Tanzanian government and the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority are underway. Initially, the plan is to begin with charter flights before progressing towards regular commercial flights.

This move would foster closer people-to-people exchanges and enhance cultural, business, and educational ties between the two nations.
The resumption of direct flights would undoubtedly boost tourism, trade, and investment between Russia and Tanzania.

It would create new avenues for collaboration, stimulate economic growth, and strengthen the already warm and friendly relations between the two countries.
