Nigerian-American Afrobeats sensation Davido, British-Gambian rapper J Hus, and Ghanaian rapper Black Sherif have been announced as the headlining acts for the upcoming 2023 AfroFuture Festival, as revealed by Culture Management Group (CMG).
The festival, previously known as Afrochella until last year, was inaugurated in 2017 and is scheduled to take place at Accra’s El Wak Sports Stadium in Ghana from December 28 to 29. This year’s theme, “Black Unification & Pan Africanism,” aims to pay tribute to the accomplishments of Black trailblazers worldwide while highlighting their contributions to art, culture, and innovation.
Abdul Karim Abdullah, CEO and co-founder of AfroFuture, emphasized the festival’s broader significance, stating, “AfroFuture has always been more than just a festival; it’s a comprehensive celebration of African culture, its people, talents, and serves as a platform for recognizing and appreciating the significant contributions we make to the world.”
Leading up to the main event, AfroFuture will host a two-week expo featuring digital experiences, wellness sessions, screenings, and panel discussions. Additionally, an entrepreneurial pitch competition, in collaboration with Pharrell Williams’ non-profit organization Black Ambition, will provide aspiring entrepreneurs with a chance to showcase their innovative ideas. The festival’s Rising Star challenge will also offer emerging artists an opportunity to perform at the AfroFuture Festival and expand their reach within the music industry.
