A rift has erupted in the Nigerian music scene as singer Daniel Benson, popularly known as BNXN, takes aim at his colleague Davido in a fiery exchange on social media.

The controversy ignited when a netizen, identified as @lifeofolaa, dismissed BNXN’s musical prowess as “mid,” prompting a heated response from the artist. In a now-deleted tweet, BNXN lashed out, declaring, “You be retard. Knowing your fave you no suppose dey speak on anything regarding music. Fem!” [sic], referring to Davido’s hit song “Fem.”

The altercation escalated as netizens condemned BNXN for his comments, with some accusing him of throwing shade at Davido while engaging with his fan base. However, BNXN swiftly dismissed concerns about the song’s fate, asserting his authority over the project and reaffirming his intention to release it. In a statement addressing the controversy, BNXN emphasized his autonomy as a songwriter and dismissed accusations of being bullied by fans, insisting that he would not be deterred by social media backlash.
