The Sanction on Zimbabwe
President Emmerson Mnangagwa who is the current Zimbabwe president used to be the Vice President under Mugabe, and this might explain why the West has refused to lift the economic sanctions on Zimbabwe for years after Mugabe’s death.
The US went ahead in 2021 to extend some of the sanctions. The European Union also argued that there have been little to no improvements in the African country. And this is why the sanctions are still in place.
Kenyan president, Uhuru Kenyata also acknowledged the agreement; whilst further calling on the west to lift long-standing sanctions. Kenyatta said he sees the sanctions “to be unfair.”
He further added that “these hardships were artificially created, and we continue to call on the international community to remove these illegal sanctions.”
The agreement between the two countries spans areas such as wildlife consultation; tourism, civil aircraft accidents, and serious incident investigations politics; diplomatic consultations, cooperative; and sports recreational activities, women empowerment, community development, and youth affairs.
