The body of a two-year-old Florida boy who was the subject of a frantic search after his mother was killed was found in a lake in an alligator’s jaw, police said.
Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway said the boy’s father, Thomas Mosley, 21, will be charged with the murder of the boy’s mother, Passion Jeffrey, 20, and her friend.
Searchers, including dive teams and officers using drones, have been searching extensively for the boy since his mother’s body was discovered at his home earlier this week and he was nowhere to be found.
“We’re sorry it ended like this,” Holloway said during a news conference Friday night.
Holloway said officers searching for a child in a lake a few miles from the apartment complex noticed an alligator “with something in its mouth,” which they quickly realized was the body of a child. They shoot the Creeper, who drops his dead body.

Jeffrey, who worked at a CVS store, and his son were last seen by family at around 5:20pm. Wednesday. The police said around 8:30 p.m. Neighbors heard a loud noise near his home, but the police were not called.
The next day, Jeffrey’s mother calls the apartment complex’s property manager after not hearing from her daughter.
They then found her dead at what Holloway described as an “extremely violent crime scene” where Jeffrey was stabbed multiple times.
Police have not released how Tylen Mosley was killed or if the alligator played a role.
Thomas Mosley went to his mother’s house around 9 p.m. Holloway said Wednesday with injuries to his arms and hands, then was transported to a local hospital where he stayed overnight on Friday.
Family members said Jeffrey and Tylen only moved into the apartment complex about a month ago.
