Nigerian Dr. Anne-Marie Imafidon Named New Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is set to welcome a trailblazing figure to its helm as Dr. Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE, a prominent British-Nigerian entrepreneur and advocate for STEM education, has been announced as the new Chancellor-elect.

At 33 years old, Dr. Imafidon brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role, having made significant contributions to the fields of business, mathematics, and technology. Her appointment marks a new chapter for GCU, succeeding the esteemed Dr. Annie Lennox OBE.

Dr. Imafidon’s remarkable journey began at a young age, achieving academic milestones such as passing A-level computing at just 11 years old and earning a Master’s degree in mathematics and computer science from the University of Oxford by the age of 20. Her dedication and achievements have earned her widespread recognition, including the prestigious title of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2017 for her services to young women and STEM.

In her new role as Chancellor, Dr. Imafidon will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of GCU, serving as an ambassador for the university’s ambitions and vision. She will confer degrees on students and provide support to promote GCU’s commitment to excellence in education and research.
