Hakeem Kae-Kazim Urges African Diaspora to Come Back Home To Africa

Nigerian-British Hollywood actor Hakeem Kae-Kazim has called on Africans in the diaspora to reconnect with their heritage and contribute to the cultural and creative renaissance taking place across the continent.

In an exclusive conversation with Love Africa, Kae-Kazim shared his vision for elevating African cinema, stressing that a thriving film industry requires both investment and a unified effort to nurture talent within Africa.

Known for his roles in Hotel Rwanda and Black Sails, Kae-Kazim highlighted the need for collaboration and financial backing to propel African stories to the world stage. “Africa has the stories, the talent, and the passion,” he said. “Now we need the support and resources to elevate our films to international standards.”

Kae-Kazim highlighted that Africa’s storytelling potential is unmatched but requires deeper international support,  local infrastructure development and technical upgrade to reach global cinematic standards. “Africa has the stories, the talent, and the passion—what we need now is strategic investment and collaboration that can elevate these films to international audiences,” he remarked.

Beyond urging investment and upgrade, Kae-Kazim encouraged Africans in the diaspora to reconnect with their roots and contribute to Africa’s cultural renaissance. “For those in the diaspora, it’s time to come home, explore, and bring their creative skills and resources back to the continent,” he said, stressing the importance of reconnecting with African heritage.

Kae-Kazim’s call resonates at a time when African films and series are gaining international attention, yet many face challenges in production quality and distribution.
