In a heartwarming gesture, the Dormaahene, Nana Agyeman Badu II, has directed that a newborn baby boy be named after Ghana’s national football team captain, Andre Dede Ayew.
The decision was made to honor Ayew’s exemplary leadership and his recent visit to Dormaa Ahenkro.
In June, Ayew led a ceremonial game in Dormaa Ahenkro, organized by the BAC Group, along with some of his Black Stars teammates.
This marked the first time the U20 FIFA World Cup winner had visited and played in the Bono Region.
Impressed by Ayew’s presence and the goodwill shown by the Black Stars, Dormaahene Nana Agyeman Badu I made the announcement during the event that the first male child born at the Dormaa hospital on July 23 would be named after Andre Ayew.

Living up to the Dormaahene’s directive, Mr. Appiah Tuffuor, a teacher with the Ghana Education Service, welcomed his newborn son at 02:05 am and bestowed upon him the name Andre Ayew.
The naming ceremony, which took place today, saw a large gathering of residents in Dormaa who came to witness this historic occasion.
Expressing his joy, the Dormaahene made an undisclosed monetary donation to the family, further emphasizing the significance of this tribute.
The naming of the newborn baby boy after Andre Ayew serves as a testament to the admiration and appreciation felt by the people of Dormaa for the Black Stars captain’s leadership and his positive impact on their community.
