The advisory comes in light of veiled threats and potentially incendiary online comments directed at Nigerians living in South Africa, particularly in the context of the upcoming AFCON semi-final clash. In response to these concerns, the Nigerian High Commission emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, good conduct, and adherence to the law before, during, and after the match. Nigerians were urged to avoid escalating tensions and to report any provocations or threats to the appropriate authorities.

The advisory underscores the commitment of the Nigerian High Commission to ensuring the safety and well-being of Nigerian citizens residing in South Africa, particularly during times of heightened emotions and sporting events that may elicit passionate reactions.
