In a bizarre turn of events, a suspected criminal in Ghana has been apprehended after attempting to deceive attendees at an Easter convention organized by the Church of Pentecost in Kasoa. The individual, believed to be a 67-year-old man wanted by the police, concocted a miraculous cure for his alleged blindness, which garnered attention on various social media platforms.
The suspect’s fabricated testimony of being miraculously cured of 22-year-old blindness quickly spread across social media after the convention. However, the Kasoa Ward of the Church of Pentecost launched a thorough investigation into the authenticity of the alleged healing and conducted an assessment of the suspect’s living conditions.

Initially, plans were underway to provide housing and start-up capital for the individual and his family, until it was discovered that he had staged the entire ordeal. Simultaneously, the Ghana Police initiated an investigation after viewing the viral video, leading to the search and subsequent arrest of the suspect.
Apostle James Kwabena Asare, Kasoa area leader of the Church of Pentecost, addressed the incident in a statement, stating, “An incident occurred (the healing of the blind man) which turned out to be a fake. The so-called blind man turned out to be a suspected criminal who caused many atrocities and was in hiding to escape.” The statement further emphasized the importance of refraining from discussing or sharing information about the fabricated miracle on social media platforms.
Additionally, Apostle Asare underscored the necessity of obtaining permission from the area media committee before disseminating any information relating to the church on social media platforms to prevent similar incidents in the future. The suspect has since been reported and handed over to the police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
