Accra, Ghana — President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo revealed on Thursday that Ghana is set to implement a groundbreaking policy, aiming to provide visa-free entry for all Africans visiting the country by the end of 2024.
This significant move aligns with the overarching goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), geared towards establishing a seamless single market across the continent to spur economic growth, job creation, and poverty eradication.
Emphasizing Ghana’s commitment to fostering continental unity, he stated, “The government of Ghana is dedicated to ensuring visa-free entry for all Africans traveling to our country.” He underscored the importance of such policies across the continent to facilitate the unrestricted movement of people, goods, and services, utilizing trade as a catalyst for economic transformation in Africa.

Highlighting the need for a more inclusive implementation of AfCFTA, President Akufo-Addo emphasized that the benefits should reach various segments of African society. He envisioned a representative framework that promotes equitable prosperity and development across the continent.
The Africa Prosperity Dialogue, a collaborative effort by the AfCFTA Secretariat and the African Prosperity Network, serves as an annual platform for African leaders to engage, forge partnerships, and commit to achieving the goals outlined in the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
As Ghana takes a bold step toward visa-free travel for Africans, the move is anticipated to strengthen regional ties and contribute to the broader vision of a united and prosperous Africa.
